A new, state-of-the-art crosswalk is keeping some South Valley students safe as they walk to school as reported by KRQE on October 20, 2014.
Due to walking safety concerns within the Silver Platinum Neighborhood Assoc. (SPDNA) borders & high pedestrian traffic in this area, and New Mexico being third in the Nation for Pedestrian fatalities (Ref 15:12 Jeff Speck Walkability video). It would be great if we can get something like this included in the plans for the downtown Albuquerque walkability improvement project.
We’ve made a request to be considered for this wonderful feature to enhance the safety of those who live and work in the downtown area, particularly the area covered by the SPDNA. We’ll keep you posted on our progress. If you live or work in this area, please reach out to City Councilor Isaac Benton, District 2 to voice your support for this much needed feature.
